Jeri Ryan and Patrick Stewart

Transcript from UPN news, 11/24/99

Tonight we want to let all of our Voyager fans know how to have their voice heard. It's a big Star Trek poll. Pat Collins has details on how you can get involved but first, she looks into the future of Voyager's sexy star, Jeri Ryan.

Collins: You may be surprised to learn Jeri Ryan does not have a date for New Year's Eve. No, guys, I'm not giving out that number and she's not saying what her plans are after Voyager.

Janeway: What's your designation?

Collins: "Seven of Nine" has been a winning combination of numbers for Jeri but what's the right number of seasons she'll stay with the show?

Ryan: I personally don't know that there are three years left for the show, I think there is probably one, after this season.

Seven: You and the crew have been stranded here intentionally.

Chakotay: By whom?

Seven: Captain Janeway.

Ryan: What more can you ask for than for a character that constantly grows so much?

Collins: A TV star could ask to jump ship to make movies, but she's a team player.

Rick Berman: [voiceover] Beautiful women who can act sort of bypass television and go right to the big screen. You don't get to find all that many of them, especially when you're looking for someone to come into the fourth season of the show.

Collins: When Jeri joined the show, this is what surprised her the most.

Ryan: The doors don't go swish, swish when they open and close. That's a big surprise.

Collins: The producers are considering combining the Voyager crew and TNG cast in the next Star Trek movie. We went to Captain Picard for an update.

Stewart: I would suspect in the next four to five months there might be some indication as to whether there would be a Star Trek X. I certainly would like to see us go into double figures with the Star Trek movies.

Collins: Patrick's next movie is A Christmas Carol.

Stewart: I've identified as much with this character as any character I've ever played.

Collins: He admits his Star Trek fame makes possible pet projects like this one.

Stewart: It's one of the benefits and spin-offs of TNG.

Collins: Star Trek fans, we want you to vote on three questions. Who is your all-time favorite Star Trek character? Who is Star Trek's greatest captain? And who is Star Trek's greatest villain? To cast your vote, go to our web site starting tonight, www.upn9.com. Results will be announced on our newscast next Wednesday, December 1, following the special Star Trek's Greatest Moments. I'm Pat Collins, UPN 9 News.
