The Voyager crew is still light years from home. However, with Valentine's Day approaching, most of the crew is in the mood for romance. As Pat Collins tells us, even Seven of Nine must comply.
Pat Collins: On February 21, the plot centers around Captain Janeway's first serious romance. She must choose between love and loyalty to the federation. Janeway is not the only lovestruck astronaut. Seven of Nine, Jeri Ryan, of course, will also get physical. In the episode, she experiences her first romantic scene. In March, she will take the next step towards intimacy.
Jeri Ryan: It's a big departure for Seven. She's trying to recapture the feelings of intimacy with someone else that she first experienced. She creates a holodeck program. Actually, it's a member of the crew.
Pat Collins: So, who's the lucky man?
Jeri Ryan: [hesitates] Oh, it's Chakotay.
Pat Collins: Is it a hot moment?
Jeri Ryan: As scripted, yes.
Pat Collins: And just how hot does Jeri want this scene to be?
Jeri Ryan: I don't think we want to see them jump in bed on the holodeck, but certainly intimacy in all of its forms is something she's trying to explore because she hasn't experienced that.
Pat Collins: How human do you want her to get? There's a danger she'll lose her edge.
Jeri Ryan: Absolutely. I don't want to see her become human and for it to be one big happy family. The drama is gone, the interest of what makes the character so unique, and still watchable and compelling to watch is that she does have that edge and she is that outsider. I want that conflict. The only thing she really hadn't explored was her sexuality. Now we're addressing that with the episode coming up. I really think we're going to cover all the bases with Seven before we're done.
Pat Collins: We will keep you posted on that highly anticipated and sexy episode. Next wednesday, we talk to the Doctor, Robert Picardo who will take charge of Voyager in the episode that airs February 21. Pat Collins, UPN 9 News.
